Press Release: Commission looks ahead to tackle disability discrimination

The European Commission launched a debate on the future shape of European disability policy ahead of the European Day of People with Disabilities on 3 December, 2008. The conference, 'Acting locally for a society for all', brought together key players in the disability field to discuss the follow-up to the current European Disability Action Plan. It also provided an opportunity to discuss the European Commission's recent proposal for legislation to combat discrimination in access to goods and services, social protection and social advantages, education and health care.
