Press Release: Commission offers direct support to private freight transport services that reduce road transport, congestion and environmental impact

On 4 January, 2008, the European Commission published the second call for proposals for the creation and upgrade of freight transport services under the Marco Polo II programme. Successful projects should fight congestion on European roads and improve the environmental performance of the freight transport system, two main objectives of the EU transport policy. Companies across the European Union and beyond are invited to submit proposals in the second Marco Polo programme.
