Press Release: Commission speeds up support for construction of cargo facility at Gaza International Airport

The European Commission decided on the 21 March 2000 to speed up assistance for the construction of the cargo facility at Gaza International airport. It agreed to exceptionally select the Project Advisor responsible for managing and supporting the €25 million project through a fast, negotiated procedure. In addition, a temporary structure will be built which would enable Palestine companies to import and export goods by air transport in 2001, while the longer term construction proceeds in parallel.
