The European Commission issued a Communication on 25 March 2004 aimed at improving the monitoring of industrial fisheries in the European Union. Such fisheries relate to blue whiting, sandeel, Norway pout and sprat and their products are sold for uses other than human consumption. The Communication provides a basis for an examination of the situation and a series of options before the Commission proposes the necessary measures for better monitoring of industrial fisheries. |
