Press Release: Commission welcomes Parliament’s vote in favour of better European cooperation against disasters

The European Parliament on 10 December 2013 adopted new legislation on EU Civil Protection which paves the way for a stronger European cooperation in responding to disasters.

The deal provides more funding, streamlines the pooling of assets such as rescue teams and aircraft and makes it easier to intervene outside the EU.

The European Commission welcomed the vote on more efficient disaster management which will benefit both Europe's citizens and communities globally.
