Danuta Hübner, European Commissioner for Regional Policy, visits the Midi-Pyrénées region. She will hold talks with local authorities about the new programme planned for the region under cohesion policy, with a budget of EUR 430 million for a seven-year period. She will go to the site of the explosion of the former AZF factory in Toulouse. Six years after the disaster, this highly symbolic site is on its way to becoming a 'Cancéropôle', a cancer research centre, with European assistance. She will also meet with the presidents of the regions in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion, a model of regional cooperation. |
