On 28 February, 2008, the member of the Commission responsible for health, Markos Kyprianou, submitted his resignation to the Commission President, José Manuel Barroso. Mr Kyprianou resigned to accept the invitation by the President of the Republic of Cyprus to join the Cypriot government as minister of foreign affairs. |
