Commissioner Andris Piebalgs visits a range of renewable energy installations in the 'Energy Cluster Lubmin' in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on 29 October 2007. The Commissioner will be accompanied by the Minister-President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Dr Harald Ringstorff. The visit takes place as the Commission is preparing a package of proposals on renewable energy and climate change for adoption in January 2008. The package will include a Directive ensuring that 20% of the EU's energy needs will be met from renewable sources by 2020. |
