Press Release: ‘Common Visa Application Centres’ and introduction of biometrics in Visa Information System (VIS) will reinforce internal security and facilitate legitimate travelling to EU

The European Commission on 2 June 2006 adopted a proposal for a Regulation introducing biometric identifiers in the Visa Information System (VIS). This proposal also included different options allowing Member States to jointly organise the reception and processing of visa applications.
