Press Release: Completing Europe’s Economic and Monetary Union: Commission takes concrete steps to strengthen EMU

The European Commission unveiled on 21 October 2015 its first legislative proposal to strengthen the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU).

This was the first in a series of proposals to be presented following the publication of the Five Presidents' Report earlier in the year, and explains step by step the implementation of this report's first stage. Amongst the ideas included in the proposal there is the possibility of the Eurozone to have a single seat at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
