Press Release: Council approves restrictions on air-polluting organic compounds used in paints and varnishes

The Council adopted on 7 January 2004 a Common Position on a draft Directive on restrictions on the use of air-polluting volatile organic compounds in solvents contained in certain paints, varnishes and vehicle bodywork products, in accordance with a political agreement reached at its meeting on 27 October 2003. The Common Position will be sent to the European Parliament for a second reading under the co-decision procedure.
