Press Release: Danuta Hübner welcomes the adoption by the Council of new cohesion policy guidelines

Based on a proposal from the Commission, the Council has agreed a new strategic vision for the next generation of European programmes for regional development covering the period 2007-2013, the "Community Strategic Guidelines for Cohesion policy". The Guidelines establish the priorities for investment under the new programmes in line with the European Union's growth and jobs agenda agreed by the Member States in 2005. The Council's decision also marks the first step in the process leading to the adoption of the national programmes by the Commission.
