Press Release: Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries concerning restrictive EU measures against the Republic of Guinea (Common Position1 2009/788/CFSP)

On 27 October 2009, the Council adopted Common Position 2009/788/CFSP2. The new Common Position consisted in imposing restrictive measures against the Republic of
Guinea, following the violent crackdown by security forces on political demonstrators on 28 September 2009 and the subsequent violation of human rights.
