Press Release: Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of the European Union on the second round of the Presidential elections in Guinea-Bissau

The European Union welcomes the orderly holding of the second round of the Presidential elections in Guinea-Bissau, that took place on 26 July 2009. Elections were held in a calm atmosphere and were, according to the preliminary conclusions of the EU Election Observation Mission, generally well administered and organised in a transparent and inclusive manner, and met essential international principles for democratic elections.
