Results of Special Eurobarometer No. 229, 8 June 2005, on 'Attitudes of consumers towards the welfare of farmed animals'. According to the survey European consumers were willing to pay more for animal welfare-friendly food products but want such products to be easier to identify. The survey also showed that 74% of consumers believed they could improve animal welfare through their shopping choices, and 57% were willing to pay more for animal welfare-friendly food products. The poll also revealed consumer concern that such products were difficult to identify. |
