The non-availability of caller location information to emergency authorities in 11 Member States was at the centre of a new round of infringement proceedings started by the European Commission in the first week of April 2006. In another 4 cases that had been initiated previously, the European Commission had now sent reasoned opinions to Belgium, France, Poland and Slovenia. At the same time, the European Commission was closing 9 cases from previous infringement rounds as the Member States concerned had meanwhile ensured that the EU telecoms rules were properly implemented. |
