On 14 March 2014, the European Commission announced that is going to provide additional funding of €1 million to UNICEF to ensure that a vaccination campaign against polio will continue inside Syria. It means that 2.5 million children under the age of five will be inoculated against polio in hard-to-reach areas as well as those who have been forced to move repeatedly because of the fighting. |
