Press Release: Europe gears up to make fusion energy a reality

The European Commission and the European fusion research laboratories launched on the 9 October 2014 a European joint programme on fusion in Horizon2020 – ‘EUROfusion’ – that would ensure significant progress along the path towards the realisation of fusion energy. This joint programme had an overall budget of at least 850 million euro over the period 2014-18, of which about half would come from the Euratom Horizon 2020 fusion energy research programme.
