Press release: Europe needs a ‘new style’ industrial policy

In its response to the European Commission's communication on industrial policy, the European Economic and Social Committee called for a 'new style' industrial policy, which should be taken into account in the Mid-term Review of the Lisbon strategy in March 2005. The EESC set out principles of this new approach. The EESC also calls for a better coordination within the Commission and in the Competitiveness Council on questions of industrial policy.
