The European Commission took the lead in signing a EUR 4 million contribution agreement towards the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF). The EIF is a multi-stakeholder partnership to support the sustainable development of Least Developed Countries (LDCs). It brings together LDCs, key international agencies and donors to ensure the integration of trade needs into national development plans and the implementation of priority trade projects. Trade ministers agreed in December 2005 in Hong Kong to redesign the EIF. The European financing will contribute to get the new EIF up and running in 2009.
