Press Release: European Commission refers Spain to European Court for ban on import of herbal products

The European Commission has decided to take Spain to the European Court of Justice for its systematic ban on the import of plant based products from other Member States. According to the Commission the current rules in Spain are a barrier to the free movement of goods in the internal market. The Commission is taking this action following a multitude of complaints from importing companies and after earlier formal legal steps did not lead to an opening of the Spanish market for herbal products.
