Press Release: European Commission welcomes European Parliament Vote on Waste Electrical Equipment and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances

The European Commission welcomed the European Parliament's vote on 10 April 2002 in favour of the European Commission proposal to introduce mandatory collection, re-use and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment throughout the European Union. The European Commission also welcomed the European Parliament's endorsement, with amendments, of the related proposal to restrict the use of hazardous substances in new electronic equipment.
