Press Release: European Commission welcomes falling telephone prices

The European Commission welcomed on 22 February 2002 falling prices in the cost of calls made between telephone networks in the Community, and adopted - at the initiative of Erkki Liikanen, European Commission responsible for Enterprise and Information Society - a Recommendation that phases out benchmarks for interconnection charges between network operators.
