On 8 and 9 October 2010, European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs will be in Washington to attend the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) where he will deliver a speech to the Development Committee, the World Bank's and IMF's ministerial forum on development issues. On 8 October, he will be a key note speaker at the German Marshall Fund to discuss "how to make Development Sustainable in time of austerity". The Commissioner will further address a Round Table on Sudan organized by the World Bank, at a time when the world needs to focus on a peaceful transition after the referendum on South Sudan's self-determination that is foreseen for January 2011. During his visit to Washington he will also meet World Bank Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati and World Bank Vice President for Africa, Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili. |
