Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Education and Culture, presented a mid-term review of the European Year of Education through Sport (EYES). With 1,500 projects promoting the values of sport and their relevance in the context of education having been submitted for consideration for Community support, sport becomes a Community competence through the Constitutional Treaty adopted at the European Council in Brussels, 17-18 June 2004.
