Press Release: Ferrero-Waldner meets Syrian Vice-Prime Minister Al Dardari

The European Commissioner for External Relations and Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, met Dr. Abdullah Al Dardari, Vice-Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Arab Republic of Syria. They exchanged views on the situation of the EU-Syria Association Agreement and reviewed the state of play of economic reforms in Syria and of developments in the Middle East region. The meeting took place in the framework of a one-day technical discussion between a Syrian delegation headed by Dr. Al Dardari and the Commission services to review the work needed to update the Association Agreement, which has been put on hold since 2004.
