Main results of the Council: The Council took note of a draft annotated agenda of the European Council meeting on 22 May. The Irish presidency informed ministers on the state of play in the discussions with the European Parliament on the next multiannual financial framework (MFF) and received guidance from ministers for the negotiations with the European Parliament. The Council heard a presentation by the Commission of joint reports by the Commission and the High Representative on Kosovo and Serbia, as well as a Commission report on the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Council took note of an initiative for a new and more effective mechanism to safeguard fundamental values in member states. |
