On 20 November 2009 the government of Ghana signed an historic agreement with the EU aimed at ensuring that only legally harvested timber from the West African country is exported to the EU market. The Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade Voluntary Partnership Agreement was signed by Ghana's Head of Mission to the European Union H.E. Nana Bema Kumi, European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas and Sweden's Minister for Agriculture Eskil Erlandsson. |
