The European Commission on 8 March 2006 authorised rescue aid for the Italian airline Volare Airlines SpA. This short-term aid was intended to rescue the firm from bankruptcy and allow it to take steps to continue operating. The aid consisted of a €25 million guarantee from the Italian Government which the airline would be able to use to obtain credit for that amount from the banks. |
