Figures released by European Commissioner for Information Society and Media, Viviane Reding, on 1 June 2005, according to which the take-up of high-speed 'broadband' internet connections was growing fast. There were 40 million broadband lines in the EU, an increase of 70% on 2004. This represented 45 000 new broadband lines on average per day, up from 29 000 per day in 2003. |
