Press Release: Internal Market Scoreboard: best overall result ever

The European Commission on 21 February 2006 published a new edition of its Internal Market Scoreboard. The main findings were that Member States had made their best ever progress in implementing agreed Internal Market rules into national law. On average only 1.6% of Internal Market Directives for which the implementation deadline has passed are not currently written into national law. This is down from 1.9% in July 2005 (IP/05/961) and is very close to the 1.5% interim target agreed by Heads of State.
