Press Release: Korea. Mandelson: ambitious EU-Korea FTA a priority for 2008

EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson said that an ambitious FTA with South Korea was an important part of his trade policy agenda for 2008. Welcoming a report by the European Parliament on the negotiation, December 2007 Mandelson said: "The choice of South Korea as partner for our next generation of Free-Trade Agreements reflects the important economic and political potential of the country. But it is also an acknowledgement of the reality that important barriers exist to stronger economic and trade ties".
