According to a provisional calculation by the European Commission, based on Member States' annual declarations, the levies for Member States exceeding their milk quotas came to €388 million (deliveries + direct sales) for the whole of the European Union for the period 2003/04. In 2002/03 the total levy amounted to €320 million. The overrun in the EU as a whole, across all sectors, was estimated to be 385 000 tonnes. |
