Press Release: Margot Wallstrom announces an action plan to respond to terrorist attacks

European Environment Commissioner, Margot Wallström announced on 12 October 2001 an action plan to respond to bio and nuclear terrorist attacks. The action plan has two key initatives: to establish more co-operation between Member State civil protection schemes, including the launch of a new Nuclear, Biological and Chemical group (NBC) which could assist any Member State 24 hours a day, by 31 October 2001; to develop a short, medium and long term working programme against potentail terrorist threats to be disucssed at a conference organised by the Belgian Presidency in the beginning of December 2001.
