The Commission has decided not to approve a Portuguese aid package in favour of the pig production sector. This package contains two measures for the pig producers: a moratorium on the reimbursement of short-term loans, accompanied with a reduction in interest rates and an additional short-term credit line with subsidised loans. The Commission considers that these measures do not conform to EU state aid rules and requires Portugal to recover the aid from beneficiaries. |
