Markos Kyprianou, European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection, called for mental health to be given a higher political priority in Europe. Speaking ahead of the WHO Ministerial Conference on Mental Health, which opened in Helsinki on 12 January 2005, Mr. Kyprianou called mental illness 'Europe's unseen killer' and emphasised his determination that the EU should do more to promote good mental health. |
