On the 28 October 2011, the European Commission cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of several European and South American companies of the Lafarge group active in gypsum-related systems and solutions ('Lafarge gypsum assets') by Etex Group NV/SA of Belgium, a manufacturer of building material and systems. The Commission found that the proposed transaction would not raise competition concerns, because the parties are not each others closest competitors and the transaction will not significantly alter the market structure. |
