The European Commission on 13 December 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the rheological and carbonless clay business of the German company Süd-Chemie AG ('Süd-Chemie') by Rockwood Specialties Group Inc. ('Rockwood') of the US. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or any substantial part of it.
