The European Commission on 16 March 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Veritas Software Corp ('Veritas'), the US storage software company, by Symantec Corp ('Symantec'), the US security software company. After examining the operation carefully, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or any substantial part of it and therefore approved the concentration. |
