The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of English Welsh & Scottish Railway Holdings (EWS) by Deutsche Bahn (DB). The Commission's decision is conditional upon the commitment of DB to fulfil EWS's expansion plans and to provide non-discriminatory access to certain EWS training activities and maintenance facilities in France. In light of this commitment, the Commission has concluded that the proposed transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. |
