Press Release: Mergers: Commission approves proposed acquisition of KOM-STROM by DONG

The European Commission cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of KOM-STROM AG of Germany by a wholly-owned subsidiary of DONG Energy A/S of Denmark. Both companies are involved, inter alia, in the supply of electricity and natural gas in Germany. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
