Press Release: Mergers: Commission approves proposed acquisition of Venture by Centrica

The European Commission cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Venture Production plc of the UK by Centrica plc, also of the UK. Both companies are involved, inter alia, in the exploration and production of natural gas in the North Sea. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
