Press Release: Mergers: Commission approves takeover of construction company Kirchhoff by Strabag

The European Commission approved under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed takeover of Kirchhoff of Germany by the Austrian Strabag Group. Both parties are active on construction markets, including road construction, in Germany and on several building material markets, in particular, the production of asphalt mixes. In view of the parties' low market shares in the construction markets and the moderate market shares on the local building material markets the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
