The European Commission on 12 August 2005 decided to approve the proposed acquisition of joint control over the Italian energy company Edison by Electricité de France (EDF), the French electricity incumbent, and AEM, an Italian energy company. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the common market or any substantial part of it. |
