Press Release: Mergers: Commission clears acquisition of Fisher by Thermo, subject to conditions

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the proposed acquisition of Fisher Scientific International Inc. by Thermo Electron Corporation. Both companies are based in the US and supply products and services for laboratory activities. The Commission's clearance is conditional upon the divestiture of Genevac, Fisher’s subsidiary active in the production and sale of centrifugal evaporators. In light of this commitment, the Commission has concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
