The European Commission decided on 9 December 2004 to authorise under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of RMC by Cemex in a deal that brings together two global construction materials companies on a world-wide scale. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or any substantial part of it and has therefore approved the concentration. The new combined company will be one of the world's largest building materials companies. |
