Anticipation of a meeting of the national co-ordinators, appointed by the Member States for the implementation of the Lisbon Partnership for Growth and Jobs, in Brussels on 6 October 2005. They were to discuss progress made on the preparation of National Reform Programmes, share experiences and exchange views on the implementation so far of the new system of governance launched in March 2005 (see MEMO/05/123) for driving economic reform at EU and national level under the Lisbon Strategy. Member States had committed themselves to submitting their National Reform Programmes in the autumn of 2005 and the European Commission invited them to do so by 15 October. The Commission was then planning to assess them and prepare an Annual Progress Report in January 2006 for submission to Heads of State and Government for the Spring 2006 European Council. |
