The European Commission has published a book on science communication. "Communicating European Research 2005" is a result of a conference on that subject, and draws on the workshops, lectures and events that took place with science communication experts from across the globe. With chapters such as "Science news on the net", "Getting R&D results into the press" and "The challenge of showing and discussing the unknown", the book casts a useful light on many of the pressing issues relating to communicating about science, and indeed general communication with a European and international dimension. Recipients of EU research funds are required to undertake activities that communicate their results to the public and this will continue to be an important element of the new Framework Research Programme, which will start in 2007. |
