The Irish Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Dermot Ahern, published proposals for a new fisheries licensing policy on 17 September 2003. The new policy proposals follow a review of national fleet policy in the light of a new Regulation on EU fleet policy adopted by the European Commission in August 2003 and reflect the long standing legal requirement to live within EU fleet capacity limits. |
