The European Commission adopted 22 July 2003 a proposal for a European Union (EU) regulation aimed at ensuring that courts in all the EU Member States apply the same rules to decide which law should apply to cross-border disputes concerning non contractual obligations, e.g. personal injury due to traffic accidents or defective products.
